Through the Eyes of Love – A Valentine’s Day Faculty Recital

On Tuesday, February 14, the faculty of the FMDG Music School presented a recital at Christ and Saint Stephen’s Church in New York City.  The program featured both solo and collaborative performances of music centered around the theme of love.

Voice teacher, Michelle Trovato, opened the concert with Katharine Flanders on flute, and Nora Bartosik on piano. Together they performed Camille Saint-Saën’s Une flûte invisible, a composition set to a 1856 poem by Victor Hugo about a young man declaring his love.

The concert concluded with Pei-wen Liao on violin and Nora Bartosik on piano in a captivating rendition of Night Club, 1960 from Astor Piazzolla’s Histoire du Tango. The 1985 composition showcases the evolution and history of the Argentinian tango, and was originally written for flute and guitar

The FMDG Music School would like to thank all the students, parents, and members of the community who attended the recital.
