Spring 2026 Semester

The beginning of the year at the FMDG Music School is full of action and activity and this spring semester is no exception.

On Saturday, January 10 the CMPYP (Comprehensive Music Program for Young People) resumed after the winter break.  Every Saturday youth students from across the boroughs come to 92Y for private lessons, group classes, and ensembles.  They benefit not only from individual instrument study but also ensemble experiences and a focus on music literacy through braille and large print music.  To find out more about the CMPYP visit Youth Classes.

The Fridays at the Fil (adult student program) started the semester with new interest in the latin ensemble and voice lab class.  An exciting addition to the menu of offerings this semester is a new guitar ensemble.  Whether it’s focussed music instruction or learning with others the Fridays at the Fil program offers adults the experience of music making under expert teachers and the support of fellow students.  For more information visit Adult Classes.

This year the Performathon reaches a milestone – 20 years!  The 20th Annual Performathon will be held at Warburg Lounge, 92nd Street Y, on Saturday, March 14, 1 PM.  It is an annual event where students seek out sponsors for their performances.  Expect to hear solo and collaborative performances, ensembles, and even recorded performances from our online students.  You can experience the Performathon by tuning into the live stream on the FMDG Music School’s Youtube Channel.
