Braille Music Workshop

October 18, 2019 @ 9:00 am - October 19, 2019 @ 5:00 pm

Free
Close up of hands reading music in Braille

This workshop for aspiring musicians, music educators, teachers of those who are blind and visually impaired, or anyone interested in helping people with vision loss, will teach the principles of braille music code, developed by Louis Braille himself, which continues to be a vital tool of the trade for a number of musicians.

You will get an introduction to and some hands-on training on a software package that allows blind musicians to have access to and produce either print music or braille music. Large print music and technology for musicians with low vision will also be presented.

This workshop will take place over two days and will be divided into two parts. Half of the day will be devoted to learning the basics of braille music and practicing solfege while reading braille music. No music background is needed for this beginning stage of reading music. There is also no braille prerequisite for this beginning level of reading braille music.

FREE! Registration required. Call 315-842-4489 to register.
