17th Annual Performathon

The 17th Annual Performathon returned to Warburg Lounge at the 92nd Street Y on Saturday, March 25. Each year the Performathon is an opportunity for students to perform and raise money for the FMDG Music School. This year the concert was presented in two parts with a wide selection of music periods and styles represented.

The first part saw many of the Music School’s CMPYP students perform solo and accompanied, on the piano, violin, and voice. Audiences were even treated to a special tap dance demonstration to the sounds of Scott Joplin’s “The Entertainer”. The second part of the program featured drum students, small jazz ensembles, the GuavaTones (a teen vocal ensemble), as well as several adult students. The concert concluded with a stirring performance of “There Won’t Be Trumpets”, a song written by Stephen Sondheim.

For the second year running the Performathon was livestreamed on Youtube. To watch the livestream again please visit the FMDG Music School Youtube Channel

If you attended the Performathon in-person or online and you were captivated by a student performance, please consider sponsoring a student performer by visiting the Donate page on the FMDG Music School website.
